Mindful Education in the Schools

Let’s bring this work to your school. Support your students and staff with tools that truly make a difference.
Mindful Education in the Schools began right here in Iowa, created by a former elementary teacher with one powerful goal: to help raise happy, healthy, and safe kids—not just at home, but at school, too. In 2016, Molly Schreiber, founder and CEO of Challenge to Change, Inc., launched the program with 30-minute live sessions in classrooms, helping students build skills in self-awareness, emotional regulation, collaboration, and other core competencies aligned with Iowa SEL and CASEL standards.
What started with just one school has now grown to more than 99 schools across Iowa!
I had the privilege of joining this work in its early days, teaching the curriculum in classrooms without the added pressures of navigating public education politics. As a former music teacher, I immediately saw the overlap between what the arts offer students and what this mindfulness-based curriculum brings to the table: resilience, creativity, emotional intelligence, and a sense of belonging.
For four years, I taught this curriculum under Challenge to Change, Inc., eventually returning to Northwest Iowa to introduce it in local districts. The photos on this page reflect that journey, along with heartfelt testimonials from educators who witnessed the impact firsthand.
This work didn’t just transform my teaching—it transformed my life. It inspired me to pursue both the 95-Hour RCYT (Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher) and the 200-Hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) certifications, which are now also available locally through Safe Harbor Yoga.
You can also read more in my book, Molly’s Path, which I wrote during my time at Challenge to Change. I’m always happy to autograph a copy!
If you're an educator or administrator looking for meaningful, standards-aligned continuing education—and a way to make a lasting difference in your school community—this is it.
