That's why I love partnering with the Storm Lake Public Library to offer Mindfulness at the Library.

Through movement, breathing, stories, and play, children have the opportunity to practice skills they'll carry beyond our time together—like noticing their emotions, calming busy minds, building confidence, and connecting with others.

More than anything, I hope they leave knowing that mindfulness isn't something they have to be perfect at.

It's simply something they can practice.

I'm grateful for community partnerships like this that make wellness accessible to families and create spaces where children can learn, grow, and belong.

Because the lessons are taught live, teachers don't have to prepare materials, learn a new curriculum, or lead the activities themselves. They get to participate alongside their students—learning the same practical tools for awareness, breathing, movement, and self-regulation.

Over the course of the school year, the monthly lessons, differentiated for the elementary and secondary levels, are intentionally scaffolded, giving your entire school community a shared language and practical strategies they can continue using long after the lesson ends.

The program has served more than 99 schools and has even reached students internationally in Spain. My hope is to bring those same opportunities to even more schools here in Northwest Iowa.

One of my favorite things about teaching beginners is watching people discover that yoga isn't about getting into impressive poses—it's about getting to know yourself.

That's why I often start by incorporating these five poses.
🧡 Downward Facing Dog reminds us that sometimes a different perspective changes everything.
🧡 Yogi Squat reminds us that not every uncomfortable moment needs to be rushed through or fixed. Sometimes we grow simply by staying present.
🧡 Warrior I, II, and III remind us that strength isn't always loud. Sometimes it's choosing to show up, steady yourself, and keep practicing.

These aren't just poses.
They're opportunities to rise.

To breathe.
To listen.
To discover the rhythm of your own body.
Because every body moves differently—and that's exactly how it should be.

One of my favorite things about teaching beginners is watching people discover that yoga isn't about getting into impressive poses—it's about getting to know yourself.

That's why I often start by incorporating these five poses.
🧡 Downward Facing Dog reminds us that sometimes a different perspective changes everything.
🧡 Yogi Squat reminds us that not every uncomfortable moment needs to be rushed through or fixed. Sometimes we grow simply by staying present.
🧡 Warrior I, II, and III remind us that strength isn't always loud. Sometimes it's choosing to show up, steady yourself, and keep practicing.

These aren't just poses.
They're opportunities to rise.

To breathe.
To listen.
To discover the rhythm of your own body.

Yesterday at Laurens Celebration Days, I had the privilege of meeting children, parents, grandparents, and community members who stopped by to move, breathe, play, and simply be present for a few moments.

One of the things I love most about the Mindful Education in the Schools program is that mindfulness isn't reserved for one age or one type of person. The same skills that help a child pause before reacting can help an adult navigate a stressful day. The practices may look different, but the goal is the same: building awareness, connection, and resilience one moment at a time.

Community wellness doesn't happen because everyone is the same.
It happens when we create spaces where everyone feels welcome to participate.
