A Time for Reflection and Change
Schools are wrapping up for the year. Summer fever is settling in for students, teachers, and even some parents. As the weather begins to shine, it also shows its turbulent side at times. This shift often mirrors our own lives.

When we feel at our best, we may still show our cracks. With summer approaching, we face wonderful adjustments—kids at home, fun at the pool, busy sports schedules, potential vacations, and the usual work commitments. In this busy season, we might feel overwhelmed.
Our upcoming Children’s Library event on June 21st at the Storm Lake Public Library is a testament to this theme. We will explore Jory John’s beloved book, The Good Egg. It dives deep into the struggle of trying to be perfect all the time and the stress this creates on our well-being.
Finding Solitude in a Busy World
In the book, the Good Egg takes a trip to find solitude. While this is beneficial, many of us lack the luxury of time or prefer a different approach. How can we care for our "shells" when we notice cracks in our lives without giving everything up?
I challenge you to consider yoga. Yes, I know what you are thinking. “I’m not that flexible!” or “I’m too busy!” or perhaps, “Yoga classes are too pricey!”

But here’s the truth: yoga doesn’t need to be time-consuming. It's about discovering what works best for your body and mind.
Simple Yoga Practices for Everyone
Is it movement you seek? Fantastic! You can try 3 to 5 yoga poses, holding each one for only 1 to 2 breaths. This simple practice can uplift your spirit without demanding too much time.
Is connecting with your breath your goal? That’s amazing! Check out the video below for great breath work.
Is it retreating into your space for some quiet time away from others? Great! All of these practices can even be done in your car before diving back into the daily chaos.
Yoga with Friends
Or do you want to gather with friends for a new experience or just hang out? Wonderful! I can help with that, too! Your friends might need this just as much as you. Currently, our class sizes are smaller, making them ideal for intimate friend gatherings. You can contact me via Safe Harbor Yoga to set up a private session or join one of our ongoing classes. If we run short on space, I’ll find a better venue that suits your group's needs.
Don’t hesitate to ask for a themed event. I love merging creativity with yoga practice.
Exploring Your Individual Path
If your interest lies elsewhere, that’s completely fine too! My ultimate goal is to help you discover what truly works for you—even if it’s not through Safe Harbor Yoga. We all need to find our own paths to peace and well-being.
Conclusion: Finding Peace Within
As we embrace the summer season, may we strive for balance and serenity in our lives. Allow yourself the grace to seek small moments of peace each day. Remember, yoga can be a beautiful tool to help maintain both your mental and physical well-being.
Wishing you peace in your mind, your heart, and in each day moving forward.
