Freedom Flow

Hello, Reader.
Thank you for returning to this blog and supporting Safe Harbor Yoga. Next week is July 4th- our 249th anniversary of independent declaration. This makes next year the Semi-quincentennial of our nation’s birth.
Pretty cool, huh?
Take a moment to consider all that has happened in almost 250 years of our nation’s growth.
The victories both on home soil and elsewhere. The positive changes in support for various causes. The moments the world shifted for the better- when we were reminded what is possible.
The good… the bad… and (yes, I’m totally going there!) even the ugly.
We, as a country, are not perfect. If we were, we would likely be the example of world peace and I think it’s safe to say we haven’t reached that mark. We’re still growing, still learning.
So what is the tie that binds? What thread exists that transcends political climates, social stature, economic success or hardship, and even ethnicity?
Freedom. The freedom to choose or the freedom not to. The freedom to follow along or the freedom to stand and speak. The ability to act, speak and think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.
And while so many of us disagree, the freedom to do so is still there. It may frustrate us or even scar us, but it also can help us to view things from a different perspective, if we’re willing to try.
Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” is a commonly used song with patriotic functions. It sums up what we feel as humans- not political parties, not rich or poor, not ethnic colors, not American born vs American made- but as people.
So, for this week’s blog, please enjoy a short freedom flow inspired by Lee Greenwood's song designed to pay attention to each part of the body, just as freedom was designed to extend to each part of the US body.
May you find peace in your mind, peace in your heart and peace in each day moving forward.
